The Hunter Foundation has received funding to administer a manufactured home replacement program. The program will provide mountaintop residents in the towns of Ashland, Hunter, Jewett, Lexington, Prattsville, and Windham with the opportunity to replace their dilapidated mobile home/trailer with a New Energy Star qualified stick-built or Modular home. In order to qualify, the home owner must meet income eligibility guidelines and the home must have at least two major systems failing.

The program is designed to provide 40% (up to $40,000) of the combined project costs. New homes will be constructed on the existing land, utilizing existing water, sewer, electric and driveway. The applicant must hold a deed to the property and it must be their primary residence.

Assistance is provided in the form of a deferred loan secured by a deferred payment note and mortgage on the property with a recapture period of fifteen years. The deferred loan will need to be paid back on a pro-rated basis if the owner sells the home or moves within the fifteen year period.
